Let’s talk about the difference between “cheat meals” and “treat meals.”
Both are common terms that get tossed around a lot (especially on social media)…
But while they might SOUND similar, there’s a massive difference between the two when it comes to your mindset…
And maybe even when it comes to your long-term relationship with food!
First, cheat meals…
- They make you think that some foods are “good” and others are “bad.”
- So, when you “cheat” by eating “bad” foods you normally avoid, it can lead to negative feelings like guilt, shame, or failure.
- PLUS, it can lead to a free-for-all mindset where you eat even MORE than you normally would because it’s a rare chance to eat “forbidden” foods.
- This can get in the way of your results… and even worse, set you up for unhealthy eating patterns.
What about treat meals?
- They give you a chance to enjoy the foods you love without the idea that you’re breaking any rules.
- This helps you create a positive relationship with food because you’re not labeling them either “good” or “bad.”
- Treats are usually planned and enjoyed in moderation… and moderation is a lot easier to achieve when a food isn’t “forbidden.”
- Treat meals can help you be successful over the long term because you don’t feel deprived.
Changing those two little letters from “ch”eat to “tr”eat might seem like a tiny choice, but over time it can pay off with a better relationship with food…
Without the “all or nothing” thinking that makes some foods off-limits.
Sometimes all it takes is a shift in mindset to help get you on the path to serious results!
A great way to jumpstart that process is working with a coach!
If you’ve never invested in a coach before, I know it can feel like a big step. But think of it this way: you can either spend more time doing what you’ve been doing, OR you can try a new approach that’s proven to work and has helped people just like you achieve life changing results.
